Microdermabrasion Vs. Chemical peel

Both procedures are resurfacing procedures and are done to exfoliate the skin. Microdermabrasion uses fine crystals and suction to exfoliate the skin, and chemical peel is using acid solutions to achieve the same results. Microdermabrasion works well on surface skin imperfections such as acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores and sun spots. A chemical peel is more for serious skin problems such as deeper acne scars and deep wrinkles. Chemical peels come in different strengths based on the situation your skin is in. It can be a very painful process. Microdermabrasion is less uncomfortable and requires less recovery time. NEVER EVER perform these two procedures one after another...you will basically strip the first layer of your skin off and it is extremely painful and dangerous. From my experiences, I love chemical peels but you need to find a trusty prefessional to do the peel. I don't suggest using over the counter products and do it yourself at home. As for microdermabrasion, some of the over the counter products are great. You can even purchase a at home microdermabrasion machine. A even cheaper way to achieve similar result is to use baking soda combined with water and use it as a scrub. Remember to always scrub with upwards motions and be very gentle. Sunscreen is a must after both procedures.
